About 15 For Life

On March 16, 2021, Rob Kavovit took his own life while suffering from silent depression. The Kavovit Family funneled their grief into opening the dialogue around depression and mental matters. Our mission is to shed the shame around needing help and normalizing the conversation around mental health by creating awareness so that our loss may help others.

“He was just the perfect teammate. His lack of wanting self-attention made him the most underrated and unassuming superstar Syracuse has ever had. He was a beautiful soul.”

Rob's Story:
Unique but not rare.

Robert Kavovit was an All-American father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor, coach, and lacrosse player. He was all about family, all the time!

Rob wore #15 because it represented "Family," his family, the 1 girl and 5 boys that are the Kavovits.

Although he had a strong family and a beautiful life, Rob succumbed to depression in March 2021.

In Rob's honor his family will carry the torch of the 15 For Life Foundation to shed the shame and embarrassment around depression and mental health.

By opening dialogue in a fresh and honest way, 15 For Life's mission is to better equip people of all ages to understand and recognize depression and mental illness potentially affecting themselves, family and/or friends.

We believe that with a better understanding of genetic susceptibilities people can be less prone to the illnesses inside.
